Jerusalem: The Bible and the Book of Mormon

Featured Video Play Icon

Believe it or not the archaeological Achilles’ heel of the Book of Mormon is not the multiple cities it discusses that have never been found, but rather the one city it mentions that is actually real. Jerusalem is the only city that is found in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon and is one of the most excavated cities in the world. Therefore, I decided to put both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to a simple archaeological test. Traveling around Israel, I asked archaeologists that have dug in Jerusalem two questions: In their Jerusalem excavations did they use the Bible as a tool in the archaeology? Did they use the Book of Mormon in their archaeology?

Watch the video to see how they answered these questions!

Blessings,

Joel

    Dear Joel,

In remembarance of the Tanners I write this reply.

Watch the video to see how they answered these questions!
True….I think it’s sad when people are looking for answers and they think they found it in this ‘Church’ only to find out they have been had, Temple Rites are stolen from the Masons, so called martyrs were/had guns etc. The only true source to find out what kind of people they are is the History of the Church also in paperback, still available…it took me years to unravel their dogma’s and still there are things i’m struggling with…brainwashing?
    Have a nice day
    Shalom

This was a nice video short. What would help its authenticity would be a comparison between the Book of Mormon’s descriptions of Jerusalem, the Bible’s descriptions of Jerusalem, and the actual archaeological findings. It would also be helpful to show the intertextual relationship, if any, between the Book of Mormon and the Bible, which would show either dependence by the Book of Mormon upon the Biblical evidence, or its divergence from Biblical narratives.

It was interesting that not even LDS archaeologists would use the Book of Mormon as an authoritative cue toward archaeological research.

    Blessings,
    Jim Ayars,

I agree with you that there is much more that can be examined. That would be a much larger project, however, and since this is a simple video short, it has to be more general.
      Thank you for your interest!

Thanks for this video, I love’d it. I am surprised that the mormons don’t address this and they have a place right there, I would think there students would really investigate that.

Once again thanks for the viedo.

I am a Chinese, and i’v watched most of your videos in Israel both on Youtube or here. It’s so blessed that you can be used by God in this way. I found that my understandings of bible are so limited and i still need to work hard on the bible study, your videos help a lot.
